DOT crews filled more than 400,000 potholes citywide between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011, setting the record for potholes filled in a single fiscal year, as well as paved 1,000 lane miles of city streets. The agency tracked its success on The Daily Pothole, the first NYC government use of Tumblr.

Countdown Clock

This year, DOT continued installation of countdown signals at 1,500 intersections along major corridors citywide, including along Grand Concourse in the Bronx, Hylan Boulevard on Staten Island and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Manhattan. The signals are a major initiative outlined in DOT’s Pedestrian Safety Study and Action Plan, and more than 1,000 intersections have now had them installed.
